5 Deadpools Better than 1- Prelude to Deadpool Corps Comic Review

Deadpool is back with 4 versions of himself to save the multiverse, no seriously some sort of intergalactic being called the “Contemplator” gets the Deadpool from our universe to recruit different versions of himself to save Space and Time.

Prelude to Deadpool Crops is the set up for Deapool Corps series. It’s a miniseries on how the team was formed. This was a 5 issue run and I was gonna cop the hardcover edition for $20 but right above the hardcover was a bundle the books in its single edition(all 1st prints) for $4.95, deal of the week!!! Enough about my saving prowess let’s get to Deadpool.

Pick this up, its DEADPOOL plus more Deadpool! There is a lady version, a kid version(personal fav), dog version and zombie head version. All the stories are in independent universes and the our Deadpool shows up at the end of each issue to pick up an alternative Deadpool; for example Deadpool as a kid is stuck in the Xavier School for Gifted Orphan Boys. There is a dance mixer between his school and the White Queens school. Xavier is trying to get some Emma Frost ass but kiddie Deadpool and his antics will burn Xavier’s game, lucky for him Deadpool and a whiny little bitch Scott Summers get into it and end up in detention. Later in this issue Scott and Wade bust out of detention and Scott pleads with Wade to make a distraction so he can get to his chick. Deadpool does just that right when Professor X is about to seal the deal with the White Queen, needless to say in Xavier’s frustration he yell’s out WILSON!!!!! And the whole place is looking at Deadpool, making fun of him, it all seems to be over then the our reality’s Deadpool shows up and snags the kid Deadpool while telling everyone one how much they suck and how important kiddie Deadpool is and how awesome it is to be Deadpool…..still with me? The Watcher is in the 4th book, as usual Deadpool is making fun of the Watcher as he does his thing, and being a big fan of the What If series it was satisfying to see the Merc with a Mouth cut into this big headed freak that lives on the moon.

Wise cracks left and right, Deadpools crazy dialogue in his head, and some serious ultra violence makes for a great series. The writing and art styles are top notch and I can’t wait to bust open some Deadpool Crops.

Iron Man 2 Upgraded Movie Review

Finally, a director that knows his comics. Jon Favreau nailed Iron Man 2. Was it a true sequel, well sort of. War Machine and all his military upgrades is in it. Whip Lash was AWESOME, and Stark Industries was also a major player. But was it original? Not really. In the final battle of Iron man 1, Iron Man fights a beefed up Iron Man like suit, in Iron Man 2 Iron Man fights multiple Iron Man like beefed up suits.

This movie was a necessary step in telling the Iron Man story, plus as long as they stay with this cast and crew, this will pan out into a great series, much like Superman in the 80’s. Sure there are some hiccups, mainly Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury? But Scarlett Johansson and her fine ass was a perfect fit as an ass kicking super sexy shadow soldier of S.H.E.I.L.D., yummy.

The movie kept with its great humor and incredible action. Seeing War Machine and a drunk Iron Man duel it out in a Malibu Mansion with DJ AM spinning Daft Punk’s Robot Rock was pure comic book meets movie justice perfection. <- That should be a quote on rotten tomatoes.

It was also cool to see them include all those weapons, but I am making a plea to Mr Favreau, PROTON CANNON!!! It is one of the greatest weapons in all of the Marvel Universe. How cool would it be to see Iron Man press a button then all of a sudden you see a rocket flying high in the sky leaving a smoke trail be behind it, then it explodes and the Proton Cannon falls from the sky right onto Iron Man’s Shoulder and he blasts someone into oblivion! Hopefully Jon Favreau reads the meaty review, if not forward this to him, we all will benefit when the Proton Cannon is involved.

You all are going to see Iron Man 2 and you should. It is one of the only big movie blockbusters of 2010. It gets a 4 Revolter Blasted Meat Slabs out of 5.

Wolverine 50 Years from Now Old Man Logan Review

Ahhh..the sweet sound of adamantium popping out of the most rugged Canadian ever warms this 29 year olds heart. But what happens 50 years from now when all of Wolverine’s counterparts die of old age? After all he ages a LOT slower than everyone around him, one of the effects of his healing factors. Mark Miller, Steve MicNivenand Dexter Vines give you one possible future.

Before I get into this juice slab of meat go out and buy this when it comes out in a Graphic Novel Format. The art is spectacular, gory, and mature. The story is bananas, and anyone who is a fan of Wolverine will like this. The issues included in the Old Man Logan series is Wolverine #66-72 and the Giant Sized special that concludes this story.<—-(this info is good, just go to your local comic shop and pick up these issues if you cant wait for the Graphic Novel that collects all of them)

Get ready for some SPOILER action, I will try to keep it to a minimal.

So the story takes place 50 years after Red Skull got all the super villains in the marvel universe organized and took down the heroes in one night. No one really knows what actually happened that night, as per most usual Wolverine story lines. All that is known is that the super villains now rule, and most if not all the super heroes you know and love are dead, gone or broken. Wolverine resides in what was Sacramento California now called Hulkland where Bruce Banner and his inbred gamma hick family runs the entire west coast. Confused? let me map out the future of united states 50 years from now if the marvel universe was real.

Crazy right? Red Skull carved out and gave pieces to Villains that were intricate to his domination of the world.

Anyways ex Avenger Hawkeye has a package to deliver to the east coast and needs someone to help him traverse the new nation, he needs the Wolverine, but the person he finds is Logan.

Something bad, I mean real bad happened to Wolverine, he moved to Sacramento, has a wife and kid, and gets picked on by the Hulkgang who frequently harass him for rent. In fact Wolverine hasn’t popped his claws in 50 years since all the heroes died, NOT ONCE!

Logan has to escort Hawkeye cause the Hulkgang has been squeezing him for cash he doesn’t have and have given him 4 weeks to pay for 2 months of rent. They climb into the Spidey Jeep and are off. They run across some seriously aged villains and heroes, and some new ones. Hawkeye is portrayed as a fornicator and has multiple kids form multiple women, nice for a blind dude!

Other highlights include the Ice Queen getting down with Dr Doom, a flashback that will make you weep for Wolverine, Red Skull wearing the Captain America suit, but my favorite was the Venom symbiont merging with a T- Rex (dinosaurs were genetically engineered out of the savage land and released into Dr Doom’s territory)

Jump to the end, Red Skull is extra scary, Hawkeye was double crossed, Logan escapes in Iron Mans suit after chopping off Red Skulls head with Captain America’s shield (oh the irony of Marvel) and flys back to Hulkland with more cash than he will ever need. He arrives with a smile on his face and is greeted by one of his neighbors telling him not to go in his own house. His family has been slain, Logan was 2 weeks early, and his neighbor tells him that the Hulk gang killed them for fun. And after 7 comics, Wolverine #66 to #72 the pages end with a 2 page spread, black black drop and in big bloody red the words you have been waiting for…

The story concludes with the return of the Wolverine, and he is out for some serious vengeance. Wanna know what happens? its pretty fucking epic, filled with some serious horror and some nasty Wes Craven type shit. Am I gonna spoil the ending, NOPE. Go out and buy it, the battle is EPIC.

GZA in Russia? 2 Wu Comics? RZA Screenplay Release in NYC?

According to the GZA/Genius myspace bulleting he is playing 3 shows in Russia. I just saw Wild Russia on Animal Planet, that nature show was crazy. Here are the dates for all my Russian Hip Hop heads-

8/28 GZA St. Petersburg, Russia @ Glav Club

8/29 GZA Moscow, Russia @ Urbania Festival

8/30 GZA Ekaterinburg, Russia @ Tele-Club

I just completed both Method Man’s and Ghostface Killah’s comic books. Both are in black and white, and over 90 pages. The art is the same in both books, nothing amazing but there are some stand out frames, especially in the Method Man’s Book. Meth’s book is called “Method Man” and it is mad dope, sorta like Constantine. GFK book is much more raw, its called Cell Block Z, it contains illegal prison bloodsport theme’s with Jason Borne like highlights. They make sure to tell you that these are concept by these Wu members, they didn’t actually write the stories. They are all-right reads, recommended for Wu heads. But if you want to get down with some serious Wu material check out RZA’s Wu Manual (I got my edition signed by the RZA himself when he spoke at UCSB) and Ghostface’s “World According to Pretty Tony”. GFK book comes with an audio CD that is pure comedy wisdom wrapped in one.

Rza is going to release the Tao of Wu on October 15

Talking about the abbot, according to RZA tweets he released the Screenplay for his new movie “Man with the Iron Fists” last weekend, I don’t know how he released it cause I didn’t attend, I don’t live on the east coast no more, but if I did I would tell you how awesome it was. Mentoring over the project is Quentin Tarantino, and Eli Roth will be producing this 2010 Kung Fu flick. They say 2010 but this is the Wu we are talking about, we’ll be lucky if we get it before 2012.
