Black Sabbath, The Horror Series?

Can an internal struggle among the members of Black Sabbath actually lead to something good? Well, there is a possibility. According to the hollywoodreporter.com, television and film producer Mike Fleiss’s Next Films has signed up Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi to work on a few projects, one of them being called “Black Sabbath,” a horror movie franchise that has “nothing to do” with the band.

According to the report, “the films… won’t be about the group but will use the title as a jumping-off point. Iommi also will score the movies.”

The British news paper The Guardian had this to say about the dispute between Iommi and Ozzy Osbourne, lead singer of Black Sabbath:

“Osbourne is pursuing Iommi over his unilateral use of the Black Sabbath name, seeking rights and lost royalties. Iommi registered the US trademark in 2000, but Osbourne has argued that “morally and ethically the trademark should be owned by the four [band members] equally”.

“Please do the right thing,” Osbourne asked his former bandmate.”
Whatever happens, at least for now we can be looking forward to some new horror movies with a badass soundtrack; hopefully going back somewhere along the line of the Italian band Goblin with Dario Argento’s Suspiria.
