Odelay-George Lopez at the Santa Barbara Bowl 7/25/09

Holy Jesus all the Chicano’s in Santa Barbara came out to the SB bow this past Saturday to see their flagship man George Lopez do his thing thing. All the Mexicans were looking good at the show, putting on their hottest gear for a comedy show, I was somewhat underdressed, and that’s the way I like it. You should have see the chicana’s walking around, oh wait I am reviewing the comedy show, let’s get back on track, my bad…..

The show started off pretty fucking weird. There was a video package sent to hype up the crowd, which is all good, but this into video was a suck my own dick marathon that went on way too long, I am talking 12 minutes too long. It did talk about his late night talk show on TBS airing in November, and his HBO special he is taping for in 2 weeks.

George brought his A game. This dude is super funny and super crass. His racist jokes are funny and actually have social commentary, unlike some of his other Latin comedians. He did fans favorites, FTP (fuck that puto) talked to the white people and hated on Erik Estrada. Most of his comedy was directed at the Mexican’s in the crowd, which makes sense cause the makeup of the crowd like 96% Mexican. My favorite part hands down when he was talking about kids names, “if you want your kid to suck dick name him Cody” this one hit home cause I know a dude named Cody. The show did hit a speed bump here and there, but I am guessing he was trying new material, which is commendable. He was a true performer and not only would I go to see him to laugh my face off, I would bring as many friends as possible, Latin or not!!! And check out his HBO special that should be out in the up and coming weeks.
