OK let me start off by saying that if you never saw the original Last House on the Left, this movie is not bad. HOWEVER, I did see the original and I’m not so sure I SHOULD have seen it at the age I did. I learned about rape, disembowelment, and how a good thing can go real wrong (definitely made me think twice about getting a blow job)(but no more than twice). Come on Craven, if you’re going to re release a horror movie in 2009 you better make damn sure its more fucked up than the original. This version is far from that. The original is pretty much a GEN-U-INE snuff film in parts. No joke. It went from horror snuff to horror puff. I guess I understand trying to make a good story appeal to a bigger audience but fuck that. I thought for sure I was going to see anal beads and zipper masks but what I got was a sweet little family with some mental problems that fucked with the wrong sweet little family with not AS bad mental problems.
Sure you can come in, but only if I get to kill you.
BUT, like I said, it wasn’t bad. Its a much more watered down version but its a very cool situation and it was acted well enough to make it work. There are some pretty intense scenes…well one, and the ending totally saved the movie and made you leave on a very positive note. I just would’ve named it The Last House on the Right, or Across the Street from the Last House on the Left, or something like that. Its a renter.

I never saw the original – but I guess the situation could have been worse!
Nothing like watching a rape/murder on the big screen when your 6.
