In short this is a fun flick if you have an extra couple of hours to kill. I dug it, it was funny, smart, had British accents, and splash of action equals a great flick. I have always liked Guy Richie’s movies, and I like this one. Guy Richie did a GREAT job portraying the UK in the time of Sherlock Holmes. It was dirty and sophisticated at the same time and he got the best actor to deliver this mixture, Robert Downey Jr. as Sherlock Holmes. Jude Law plays Dr. Watson and the true magic of this film comes when both these actors are interacting within the film.
Was it true to the books? Eh…
There was some cliché-ness and it was a lot more tamer than other Guy Richie endeavors. Although I think Rachel McAdams is a good actress she kinda sucked in this movie, plus she didn’t show any flesh, WTF Guy?
The movie did end with a serious opening for a sequel (OH NO WAS THAT A SPOILER!) which I hope they do cause all in the end Sherlock Holmes was a fun experience and I recommend it to anyone who likes having FUN at movie theaters.
