Haaris Ahmed is the Ronin Samurai around these parts.

pearl jamOctober 1st is a special day every year, both my little brothers were born on that day, 8 years apart. So to celebrate I decided on buying a last minute ticket to the second show out of four shows that Pearl Jam was doing at the Gibson Amphitheater, and I got a great seat.

If you have never seen Pearl Jam than I feel sorry for you. It is one of the only bands that play solid sets, with a bunch of material and always try to do a kick ass show. Last night was defiantly one of those special kick ass night. Where to start?

Pearl jam took the stage around 8:40pm and played till about 11pm, with some breaks throughout the show. There catalogue of songs is super long, but they assembled a great set like they always do. Obviously they did a bunch of new material off of their new album, Backspacer. Highlights include “Do the Evolution” and acoustic version of Lukin with a string quartet, and amazingly heavy version of Alive, Once, and my FAVORITE PJ song Red Mosquito with Ben Harper sitting down and sliding all over his guitar. They did a lot of other songs like Daughter, Jeremy, Given to Fly, and Black of the top of my head. Another highlight was a Jimi Hendrix Star Spangle Banner ending with the house lights on. If I get a set list I will insert it.

Eddie Vedder was hitting some serious wine and constantly thanking the crowds for being much more lively than the 1st show they did in LA. Mike McCready stole the show for me, he was goin APE SHIT on the guitar, playing some serious guitar riffs and going on drifting solos.

The sound was amazing and I was right behind the soundboard. I hope you dig the camera phone picture, it’s the 1st of many meaty live pictures. Also the poster art of this show was AWESOME, it is super evil and mad with some heavy ink.

The show was great, but Pearl jam is always great live. I liked it so much I have the chance I will defintaly see them next week when the play on the 6th and 7th, come on payday!
