Super white and always right, find this guy at your local Blockbuster, punching the nerds behind the counter.

Oohh build me a castle!

Oohh build me a castle! And then blow that shit up!

Remember back in the day, when you got the Game Genie for Nintendo, and then you attached it to Excite Bike, and you were able to create all types of crazy courses and enter codes that would allow you to fly through the top of the screen and come back up again through the bottom, or other unbelievable shit that wasn’t in the original game? Remember how fucking cool that was? Well I do and it seems that my brother has taken on the same feeling. Over the course of time it seems each year a new game has an editing feature that is fun to use for about 10 minutes and then gets frustrating and then we just stop using it altogether. My biggest example would be the Tiger Woods course creator.  Today, we’re going to take a look at the newest version of an editing feature called Sandbox for the game Crysis by EA and only for Windows. And this one could keep you busy for years. Now I personally have never used it, but I can tell you from watching several videos of people who have…..it’s something I’d definitely be into.

Its basically an empty land that spans for miles that you get to add anything you want to and create your own virtual experiments. Its actually the same way the creators make the game itself. At any point in time the user can stop creating, jump down on the land, and try out what he/she’s done. You control everything from the lighting, to the sound, to the physics virtually creating your very own level of play. Its really amazing what these kids are doing with it. Damn kids are getting geekier by the minute. So my brother is super into this shit and I asked him to put a little video together to show us what this Sandbox is all about. Lets see what he came up with….

Thanks little man and keep on geekin out.

Whiteout.

Actually i did this using a rendering process. Using fraps, each frame was captured as a jpeg then i used a program called virtual-dub to put all the screenshots into a video at 30fps. Unfortunately it can’t record sound. If you can see in the top right corner, most of the video was running at .2 frames per second. So i basically had to wait 10 seconds for every frame. At 2:11 that scene took about 30 minutes to render.

I tried to give up the console and go strictly PC, even got myself an Alienware, but I use my computer for too much else to enjoy just gaming. So now I’m back to strictly console. I’ll let my brother here give us the low down on PC gaming. He seems to have evolved into quite the nerd.
